The Candelilla House
Unexpected luxury in the Terlingua Ghost Town
in the shadow of the Chisos Mountains, where great stories begin
THE CANDELILLA HOUSE
Terlingua chic, the Candililla House is great for either couples or families.
Perched on a hillside, it offers an everchanging view of sunsets, starlight, and thunderstorms.
There is a patio outside the walls and another within.
The name of the Candelilla House comes from the local cactus that was gathered by the locals and used in the manufacture of women's makeup products. The owners' family operated both a trading post and a processing facility that kept this Mexican tradition alive.
There are two charming bedrooms, plus a cozy alcove with a futon, and a variety of liviing spaces.
The private road leads you to desert life with a view of the desert, mountains, and everchanging sky.
You'll be the envy of all the local ghosts when you check-in to the Candellilla House.
Rollaway Beds are available for an additional $20/day.
The kitchen is simple and functional, but you're in easy walking distance to the best restaurant in the Big Bend.
The Candelilla House is right in the middle of the Ghost Town, so the neighbors are long gone and you won't be disturbing anyone with a little partying.
We do have indoor plumbing, but it's outdoors -- a few very private steps away in a secluded, relaxing retreat.
A few more steps up the hillside, you'll find an extremely private shower.
